Internship Opportunities

  • Hands on Peru (HOP).   Volunteer in Huanchaco, Peru this summer with Hands On Peru!  There are three programs to choose from:
    • volunteering in the medical clinic (Hands to Care),
    • teaching English to schoolchildren (Hands to Teach), and
    • building homes for those in need (Hands to Build)

Medical classes will be provided to those volunteering at the medical clinic; therefore, no previous experience is required. You would have the opportunity to be hosted by a Peruvian family and be fully immersed into Peru’s beautiful culture.  For more information see their Facebook or Insta pages.

  • Planned Parenthood internship. The 2023 Summer Planned Parenthood Advocacy and Campaign Team (PPACT) internship will pair interns with local campaigns of candidates endorsed by Planned Parenthood in order to learn grassroots organizing and taking direct action in supporting candidates who will champion reproductive health, rights, and freedom.  Click for more information and to apply.
  • Berkshire Nursing Families is recruiting to fill 1-2 full-time internship positions to work within our program in summer of 2024. BNF is located at the North Adams Regional Hospital. Berkshire Nursing Families provides education, lactation consultation, a 7-day-a-week breastfeeding hotline, and home visits – all of which are free of charge – to every family who needs them.  The intern will assist in the development and operations of various programs and initiatives both at the BNF office and playgroups, and out in the community, with a heavy focus on marketing and communication of services to the Berkshire community.  To apply, email Rosalie Girard introducing yourself and your interests as well as a CV so BNF can ascertain fit.
  • Year long paid internship at Casa de Esperanza, a non-profit in Houston, Texas.  Casa de Esperanza provides residential care to children birth through six who are in crisis due to abuse, neglect, or the effects of HIV.  Care is provided in our neighborhood by our Hands of Hope interns.  Click for more information and to apply.
  • PH service-learning opportunity. The Courier Program, at Frontier Nursing University in Versailles, KY is an eight week, rural and public health, service-learning program with a rich and adventuresome history that targets college students with interest in public health, healthcare or a related field.  The program cost is $500 + travel.  Click for more information and to apply.

  • CEHS is continuing the SURP Summer 2024 NIH-supported summer research experience and have several stipend positions open.   As a leading-edge biomedical research center, The Center for Environmental Health Sciences (CEHS) at the University of Montana strives to provide the best educational research programs.  This year, the Center’s SURP program will have multiple projects revolving around the topic of immunotoxic effects of environmental exposures including silica, nanoparticles, pesticides and wood smoke. An overall focus of these projects will be on how they impact immune function and chronic diseases.
